At Oshawa Power, we understand that you may experience challenging times that make it difficult to keep up with your electricity bills. We are dedicated to working with our customers to help manage arrears and ensure your power stays connected.

Disconnection of service is always our last resort.

Understanding the disconnection process.

Each month, Oshawa Power will send you a bill for your electricity use with payment due 21 days after your billing date. If your bill remains unpaid after 21 days, your account will enter the following collections process:

This call acts as a reminder that your account has an overdue balance.

This letter acts as a final 7-day warning before your account will enter our disconnection process.

A disconnection notice means that we may disconnect your electricity service if payment is not received by the date specified within the letter.

This last notice informs you of the date that an Oshawa Power representative will be sent to the service address with the intention of disconnecting service if payment is not received by the date specified.

On the date of disconnect, customers will always be offered the option to make a credit card payment at the door and ensure continuation of service. An Oshawa Power representative will deliver a final notice advising that service has been disconnected for non-payment.

Need help paying your bills?

If you’re experiencing difficulties paying your bill, programs are available to help manage your electricity costs. Customers already in arrears may be eligible to enroll in our Arrears Management Program or Equal Payment Plan to ensure service remains connected.

Winter disconnection ban.

Disconnection of service will not take place between November 15 and April 30 each year. Customers are still responsible for the full amount of their bill during this period and may be disconnected for non-payment after April 30 if there is an outstanding balance on their account..
